Lomborg: Climate Change Alarmists Ignoring the Good News

From the story: Yes, Arctic sea ice is melting faster than the models expected. But models also predicted that Antarctic sea ice would decrease, yet it is increasing. Yes, sea levels are rising, but the rise is not accelerating—if anything, two recent papers, one by Chinese scientists published in the January 2014 issue of Global and Planetary Change, and the other by U.S. scientists published in the May 2013 issue of Coastal Engineering, have shown a small decline in the rate of sea-level increase.  We are often being told that we’re seeing more and more droughts, but a study published last March in the journal Nature actually shows a decrease in the world’s surface that has been afflicted by droughts since 1982. Obama Doubles Down on Refusal to “Label” Islamic Terrorists

As he tossed out this line:  “I think for us to be successful in fighting this scurge it’s very important to align ourselves with the 99.9 per cent of Muslims” (Daily Mail).  Would be nice to know where he is getting that 99.9 percent figure.  Certainly not from polls (Religion of Peace/Breitbart).   Obama also claims terror groups aren’t an “existential threat to the United States or the world order” (CNN).  Meanwhile, Boko Haram continues their effort to take more cities (CNN).

US Considers Helping Ukrainian Forces

From the story:  The Obama administration reportedly is reconsidering whether to provide defensive weapons and equipment to Ukrainian forces after Russian-backed separatist rebels dealt them a series of reversals in recent weeks (Fox News).  More on the fighting (Reuters).  And then there’s this:  The last Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has accused the United States of drawing Russia into a new Cold War and said he feared hostilities could escalate into armed conflict (Radio Australia).  Meanwhile, Russia’s economy continues to sink (Irish Times).

Obama Administration Vents More Anger at Israel

Over Netanyahu’s willingness to speak to congress (Weekly Standard).  But the Muslim Brotherhood is receiving love from the administration (Jihad Watch).  Victor Davis Hanson warns “When the United States arbitrarily lifted tough sanctions against Iran and became a de facto partner with the Iranian theocracy in fighting the Islamic State, it almost ensured that Iran will get a nuclear bomb. Iran has claimed that it wishes to destroy Israel, as if its own apocalyptic sense of self makes it immune from classical nuclear deterrence” (Townhall).  Meanwhile, anti-Semitism rises in Europe.  Krauthammer explains why deterrence won’t work with Iran (Washington Post).
