Albert Mohler: The Vulnerable West

Billy Graham

A German Light Infantry Battalion recently reported, according to the Wall Street Journal, that “during exercises…their unit didn’t have the munitions to simulate battle. Instead, they were told to imagine the bangs.”

All this comes in the aftermath of President Donald Trump’s visit to Europe, in which he pointed his finger at the Europeans, including many of our historic allies, for their failure to spend enough in terms of their military.

The Dutch Prime Minister recently said, “To an extent, he has a point.” Indeed, the president has a massive point.

As the Wall Street Journal reports, “Today European allies spend roughly half as much as the United States on defense yet have less than one-sixth of its combat power.”

This is not a problem that can be quickly remedied. Perhaps we can understand why Vladimir Putin and others see the opportunity when we are told that a German light infantry battalion is having to say “bang! bang!” to one another because they actually don’t have the bullets.

Greg Thornbury: No Questions Allowed

Greg Thornbury

When Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Bret Stephens left the Wall Street Journal editorial board for The New York Times recently, the change raised a few eyebrows. Stephens, who had been very critical of then-candidate Trump, perhaps fit better at the “Old Grey Lady,” in this day and age.

Few people, however, thought the move would make national headlines. But then Bret Stephens published an Op-Ed with his contrarian and conservative view that dared to call into question the absolute certainty with which climate change advocate make their apocalyptic claims.

To readers of The New York Times, even casting the slightest doubt on the political agenda of climate change advocates sent liberal readers of the paper into a tizzy.

The message was clear, and it was Orwellian: disagree with the conclusions of the progressive left, and they will silence you, then crucify you.

DNC Pouring More Money into Ossoff

The story notes “Republicans got more votes yesterday in GA-06 than Democrats and unaffiliateds combined — even after the air-dropping of $8.3 million into Jon Ossoff’s campaign. Perez and the DNC had a huge organizational advantage and the normal opportunities afforded in special elections, and still couldn’t pull off the steal” (Hot Air). The incredible moment Ossoff is confronted with the fact that he doesn’t live in the district he seeks to represent (YouTube). A look at how Democrats overplayed their hand (Washington Examiner).  Another story claims it went as predicted (National Review). Karl Rove explains why both sides should be concerned (WSJ). The results made Alyssa Milano “want to puke” (Breitbart).
