Charlie Kirk dives into the controversy
Charlie Kirk: Okay, so if you don't know who Lia Thomas is, let's get you up to speed. Lia Thomas is a person who was born a biological male. Lia Thomas is a man who thinks he is a woman. I wish Lia Thomas best of luck figuring out those deep-seated mental problems. I wish for him counseling sympathy, compassion, grace – none of that should be an excuse for us to tolerate the destruction of an institution or biological differences.
So, Lia Thomas, the man, not a very good male swimmer. Lia Thomas obviously has some deep-seated mental problems. I don't go out of my way to pick on people with mental problems. I don't. But when those people with mental problems then decide to become cheaters, we got a real problem. Lia Thomas is a cheat.
So, Lia Thomas transitioned, whatever that means, to a female. Lia Thomas has now started to compete at the highest levels of female (sports), because Lia Thomas was a very poor male swimmer and being a narcissist that wants attention, then said, okay, I'm now going to go compete against women with no shame at all whatsoever.
Sports Illustrated calls Lia Thomas “the most controversial athlete in America.” There should be no controversy, actually. If you cheat, there's no controversy. CNN calls Lia Thomas, “the face of the debate on transgender women in sports.” Yeah, there should be no debate. We know that.
Listen to this. This is NBC’s “Today” show, giddy and excited that Lia Thomas is crushing the competition. So right now, this is what's happening. It's the NCAA Division 1 women’s swimming and diving championships, right now.
Play cut 92.
Clip of sports announcer: There is so much to watch. So, she's going to first hit the pool this morning at 10 o'clock, that's the 500-yard freestyle. The prelims finals are tonight. She's favored to win the 500- and the 200-yard freestyles. She's also swimming in the 100-yard freestyle, and she's got a shot there. But in addition to watching for her winning those races, we're also watching for the potential – she is within striking distance of the long-held collegiate records by Missy Franklin and Katie Ledecky. So of course, we're going to be watching to see if she touches those records during this weekend too.
Kirk: Just, like they seem like over the top. Katie Ledecky is a phenomenal athlete – 25 years old, multiple gold medals. And Katie Ledecky, from my own research, is completely silent on the fact that all of her records are about to be crushed by a man. I want you to imagine Michaela Phelps. No, I know the real name is Michael. But what if Michaela Phelps just showed up and started to smash records? But you know what? Michael Phelps would never do that. Because Michael Phelps is a winner and not a cheater. Michael Phelps actually can win against the men of men and doesn't need to go compete against women.
(To his producer) You ready for me to get into some trouble Connor? We don't like when the strong crush the week, that's why we don't like Putin. That's why we don't like Lia Thomas. Lia Thomas is doing the exact sort of moral behavior. I am not saying Lia Thomas is bombing hospitals, maternity wards. Of course not. It's the same moral principle: “I have power and I'm going to use it for my own benefit.”
“If we are not willing to protect those that can't protect themselves, female sports is done.”
If we are not willing to protect those that can't protect themselves, female sports is done. Lia Thomas, whatever, the man is going to crush all the NCAA women's records.
Lia Thomas places first in the NCAA 500-yard freestyle swimming competition. “National champion” as a biological man. Lia Thomas wins by four seconds – I mean, enough time to go get a sandwich, take a nap, and get back in time. It's an eternity in swimming.
“We're the feminists.” They don't speak. “We're the feminists.” They don't talk. We talk as conservatives about this because we don't like when people use strength to crush people that are weaker, and that's exactly what Lia Thomas is doing.
